Police in England have arrested an individual in connection with the tragic death of Minnesota native Adam Johnson, whose life was cut short when an opposing player’s skate slashed his throat during a game in the Elite Ice Hockey League between the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers.
The arrest, announced 17 days after the incident, came without the South Yorkshire Police revealing the identity of the person taken into custody. In a press release, the department stated that detectives had “arrested a man on suspicion of manslaughter.”
The presumption is that the arrested individual is Sheffield hockey player Matt Petgrave, whose skate struck Johnson in the neck during the game on October 28.
